$5,000 Awarded to 2018 QuitCash Challenge Winner

Nicole Morgan of Burnsville was the $5,000 winner of the QuitCash Challenge contest. Morgan was one of the more than 4,000 Minnesotans who entered the Challenge, a quit-and-win contest sponsored by QUITPLAN® Services and ClearWay MinnesotaSM. Morgan remained tobacco-free through the contest month of April 2018 and was randomly selected as the grand prize winner. Recently, ClearWay Minnesota and QUITPLAN Services celebrated Morgan’s accomplishment and presented her with a grand prize check.

Morgan smoked for more than 15 years and had unsuccessfully tried to quit in the past. After reducing her smoking, Morgan decided it was time to quit and contacted QUITPLAN Services for free help. She ordered a starter kit of nicotine patches to help her quit smoking for good. Now, after more than two months smoke-free, Morgan has noticed improved health, and has saved money from no longer needing to purchase cigarettes.

The year’s QuitCash Challenge is the 10th annual quit-and-win contest sponsored by QUITPLAN Services. Since the first contest in 2008, thousands of Minnesotans from around the state have participated in the QuitCash Challenge as they seek to quit smoking. Additionally, the contest provides an opportunity to inform Minnesotans about all the free help available to quit through QUITPLAN Services.

“We congratulate everyone who entered The QuitCash Challenge and made a change toward a healthier life,” said David Willoughby, Chief Executive Officer at ClearWay Minnesota. “We are thrilled that the QuitCash Challenge helped motivate Nicole and that the free tools from QUITPLAN Services helped her quit. We want every Minnesotan to know that when they are ready to quit, QUITPLAN Services is here to help.”

The upcoming 2019 QuitCash Challenge will be the final contest from QUITPLAN Services, as the cessation program will be ending in early 2020.

Launched by ClearWay Minnesota in 2001, QUITPLAN Services offers all Minnesotans year-round, free access to phone coaching, text messaging and email support, quit guides and free nicotine patches, gum or lozenges.
